A little bit of quiet....

I've got my coffee, The View is on boob tube in the background, and Jacob is sleeping...i really do enjoy this time in the morning! It gives me an oppertunity to just relax and do some much deserved "me" things...like drink coffee and take a shower without worrying about someone getting bored!

Today Jacob turns 8 months old...and man the time is really flying by now that we're near the end! I still can't believe I have to go back to work in 3 months....and possibly sooner! I've been applying for government jobs like crazy, as I really want to do a monday to friday gig so I can spend more time with the boys on the weekend. I have an interview (finally...after 4 questionnaires and essay response answers!) with the BC Liquor distribution board, for a Sr. Store Manager position. The pay is MUCH better than what i'm making, and if I do get the position, I will never have to work Sundays or Statutory holidays as the liquor stores are closed :)I may have to work Saturdays but I could always do the early shift and be off by 3pm which wouldn't be too bad! I'm actually in competition for 4 other positions right now, that are monday-friday, so we'll just have to see how this unfolds...but man, am i ever looking forward to the pension!

Today is the day I have to get everything ready to head to the island and send Jacob packin' for a night! I've got to get together his food for the weekend, and make a little freezer pack to take it over in. Im so happy that I decided to make all of his food, it's comforting to know that I know exactly what he's eating. With his sensitive bowels and stomach, it makes it much easier to pin point foods that don't agree with him. We're still having to do the laxative 2 times a day, but its just all part of the routine now. His beloved Farley cookies tend to bung him up, so I have to limit him to one, maybe 2 cookies a week, and they have to be at least 4 or 5 days apart. I hope he grows out of his food sensitivities!

We're  having some big time issues with Jacob taking  a bottle and it is EXTREMELY frustrating!!! We introduced a bottle to him when he was about 2 and a half months old, and he took it totally fine. We continued to give him a bottle with either breast milk or formula milk every so often, and had other people feed him to ensure he was okay with it. WELL, that's all been thrown out the window. We probably haven't given him a bottle in about 2 months, and on New years Tyler gave him one during the day (no problems!) but then he resisted and wouldn't take it at night. Tyler and I have been trying so hard all week to give him a bottle with both breast milk and formula and it had been unsuccessful until yesterday. It's like as soon as the nipple of the bottle hits his mouth he is mortified. I don't know if it's the taste, feel or what, but it's silicone just like his pacifiers.
So yesterday, after trying the 4 different types of bottles and nipples I had at home, i went and bought another 4 types, including the same brand as his pacifier. After 2 different ones, I had some success after i put some breast milk on the nipple. He took down the 4oz's of formula I had inside. Tyler wasn't home for this, so his bed time feed, i had Tyler try, and he had no luck. We put breast milk on the nipple, and he still wouldnt' take it. After about 10 minutes of ferocious screaming with Tyler, I calmed him down and tried myself to feed it to him again. After about another 15 minutes, and more breast milk on the nipple, he took it and drank 4oz's and then was done. We put him to bed after and he slept for 10.5 hours...so he definitely was full.
We're going to try it again tonight with Tyler feeding him, and i'm going to try and give him a bottle today too, so we'll see how it goes. If he doesn't eat, he's going to be one hungry baby by the time Mommy gets back to see him! The other crappy thing is that he can't have any food if he doesn't drink his bottle because he will be so constipated we'll end up at the hospital i'm sure. Plus, food is just for exploring tastes right now, not so much for nutrition as his food source should be breastmilk (or formula if you formula feed) until he's 12 months old. This kid needs to drink!
This was as close as I had gotten him to taking his bottle the other day...a few tosses and throws then he was done! So sad, as we have so many of the bottles he used to take...bottles are expensive!

Here's a picture of the birthday boy playing vid's with Dad...it already scares me he knows how to hold the controller!

So i'm going to take a page out of my fellow blogger Laura's book and finish up with some facts about Jacob on his 8 month birthday, and a little wish from mommy for the future!
Now that you're 8 months old Jacob you're loving to explore the world around you! You love books, especially those that play music as you giggle when you hear it.  You've learned to give kisses this month, and even though they're slobbery and you put your tongue all over my face, it's my favorite thing in the world! You love to dance with Mommy, and shreak with laughter when I spin around really fast. You got your first tooth this month, and you're a real trooper! I will get a picture of it one day, but right now, you're being camera shy! You love food, and are like a little puppy dog when people are eating around you...you want some too! So far you eat: sweet potato's, yams, squash, pears, mango's, peas, green beans, plain full fat yogurt, blueberries ( only if they're mixed with pears!), chicken, and carrots. You really don't like to eat avacado's anymore, and defintiely did not like the kiwi i gave you! We attempted some apple sauce, but it was a little to sour for you as Mommy only gives you the healthy no sugar stuff. We'll try again next month :) You sleep through the night for anywhere from 10-12 hours now, and rarely wake up at 2am. (Thank you!) It looks like you're really wanting to crawl, but just haven't figured it out yet! I can't wait to see you discover :)
Mommy and Daddy love you very very much, and thank you so much for being who you are...even when you don't take your bottle! You've got quite the personality and we wouldn't change it for the world!
We love you, and Happy 8 months little man!
