Babyproof time...kind of :)
Thanks to the recommendation a fellow mom/friend Laura and some other research i did, we decided on the kind of baby gate we wanted to buy!...and bought 3! Ive been waiting and waiting for them to go on sale, and they finally did this weekend for $39.99 instead of $60 each! So we snagged the last 3 BRU had and they're now just waiting to be assembled!I really liked them because they're not nasty looking like a lot of them out there (i hate the barred in jail looking ones...for our house! no offence if you go with those 'cause they sure would save you money!) , and because Jacob won't feel inclined to try and put his body parts through the spaces in between bars. This guy has one solid surface with a window so Jacob won't miss anything going on on the "other side".
We also picked up a crib rail protector as Jacob has taken to biting the side of his crib now and is leaving teeth marks. Silly boy! Now this may sound risky or senseless to some parents out there, but we've decided not to lock our cupboards as i want Jacob to learn early to not go in them. The only one i'm going to get a lock for is the one under the kitchen sink where i keep the cleaning products and soap etc.. A friend of mine did this and had no problems with her little one going into any of the cupboards, with some friendly mommy reminders of course, but it never became a game. We're also not putting those plug plastic things in our outlets either. Our outlets have these protector things in them anyway, like a shield you have to push though in order to put your plug in, and they're impossible to plug into. Again, if i find Jacob licking the outlet or something maybe i'll change my mind, but for now, i'm going to work with what we've already got. I think sometimes we as parents get carried away with baby proofing and worrying about absolutely everything. They're going to have to learn somehow, and if we're watchful parents we can teach our little ones the right way before anything potentially harmfull happens. Our house is open concept so there will never be a time where I won't be able to see Jacob and what he's gettin' his little hands into! Call me naiive, but so far so good!
He's just so adorable! :)
Tearin' his "pad" apart!!
We're on the hunt for a bbq and quaint patio set and we think we've found both! Just gonna sleep on it tonight and hopefully make the purchase tomorrow!
Oh, one bad thing....i went tanning today and now have a tan line on my face from the strap on the eye goggles. Stupid stand up tanning booth! I hope they fix the laydown bed soon!

Good to know about the gates, I need one more for the basement once it's done. I really do like those gates a lot, they look so much nicer.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't lock all our cupboard in the kitchen either, it's just so much work and really he doesn't go into most of them and if he does we just say NO, dangerous. He has caught on to that pretty quick. One thing I did put locks on is the pot drawer cause they are huge and could seriously hurt his little fingers.
