FTT
Probably one of the worst things any parent wants to hear...failure to thrive. Well that's the Jake man! He hasn't grown in height in 2 months and only gained 7oz in that time as well. I swear his pants were getting shorter...maybe it was my drying skills! But none the less, off to the pediatrician we go! Our appointment isn't until next month, so it must not be uber serious, but still scary none the less. The more i look up FTT on the internet, the more i wish i didn't. Things like speech, social skills, brain development amongst others are apparently affected by being labelled ftt. To look at Jacob he looks healthy, thinner, but healthy! He's still got little rolls on his arms and legs and a little tummy but I guess he's just not rollie enough!
My doctor wants us supplementing with formula after every feed, so we've been doing that for the past week, and i've decided that this would be the perfect time to wean. I figure, if i'm taking time to make a bottle as well, i may as well just give him the whole thing. Especially now since we've figured out what forumla he'll take and what bottle. In 3 months we'll be switching to cows milk anyways, so i think this is the best oppertunity for us.
I'm a little sad about it as i think i'm defintiely going to miss the cloesness nursing gave us, but i can get that from a bottle right? Oh well, whatever makes this little guy grow is what is most important...and if it comes in the form of fomula now, so be it!
We're off to the island today to see our friends Maria and Jason and Jacob's girlfriend Lydia! I hope he is a good boy while we're there!

This kind of stuff is annoying, just cause your kid doesn't grow according to a chat he is FTT? I always say as long as he is pooping and peeing he's fine. He may just be taking a growing break and will have a huge growth spurt next month. Kaleb has slowed down a lot in growth but he is happy and healthy so I am not worried.
ReplyDeleteIf you are switching to formula I used the PC brand for a month before we went to homo milk and it's cheap and Kaleb likes it.
